It was a little chilly outside, so today we stayed in and did a mini science experiment and made some Oobleck.  A little bit of water and a little bit of cornstarch and what do you get?  Is it hard? Is it soft?  What is it?

Just off to the side of basecamp is a tall grassy spot where the kids like to sit in and peer over the grass like little lions.  Here is a pride of boy lions roaring their mighty roars.

When outdoors, Mary-Dale and I try our best to stay in the background and be there for support when the kids need us.  Watching them play and explore the land around them is an interesting experience.  Their imaginations run wild and sometimes it seems like they forget that we are even there.  ...

Here is a quick peek into our outdoor classroom.  This is our basecamp.  It is a place where we gather, explore, and use our imaginations.  The children have really settled in here and made it their own (with some help from their teachers).

This week we only got outside one day, however it was an epically long and fun day - 4 hours of outdoor play!!!  We took a break from the puddle jumping and focused on playing in the woods and the children have established a base camp.  As we played, the kids were also discovering little nooks and crannies of play spaces.  They made "stairs", moved branches and gathered rocks.  The kiddos even found this large circular piece of concrete, rolled it out of the bush and with the help of Mary-Dale and Mrs. Dunnett, placed it in our camp and the kids quickly got to work making a fire pit.  Rocks were found and placed around the pit and meals were planned.  Sounds like we have big plans for our base camp in the future.
