Today for Mad Science we made lava lamps using a few basic household items:

• Vegetable oil
• Water with a few drops of food colour.
• Alkaseltzer tablets

Fill a cup about 1/2 way with vegetable oil, then pour about a 1/4 of water into your oil, then lastly, add in your alkaseltzer pieces bit by bit and watch what happens.
