Congratulations to Keenan Simon the winner of our first Student of the week. Keenan was very helpful and attend school all week. He is the winner of a meal from Dairy Queen.
There will be a Drama meeting today,Friday September 7th at 12:30pm. Any students interested in joining the drama club are asked to attend in the grade 8 classroom.
Eel Ground First Nations School will be having their picture day on Monday, October 1st. Students will be getting their pictures taken by Dewey Photography in the school gym.
Eel Ground First Nations School will be hosting an open house on Tuesday September 25th. The open house will take place from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Parents and Guardians are welcome to come and meet the teachers and staff to ask any questions or raise concerns. Hope to see you there!
There will be just half a day of school on Monday, September 17th. Our school will be hosting Scott Chisolm who will be speaking to staff on "safe talk".Students will be dismissed at 11:45am.
To promote good attendence and behaviour in our school we are starting a student of the week and student of the month awards. Students who exhibit good attendence, work habits and kindness to other members of our school will be nominated each week.
Something new this year is a Parent Teacher Advisory Committee. This committee will be composed of parents/guardians, Mr.Hawkes,Mrs. Beranrd-Ward, an elder of the community and one student from the school.If you are interested in joining this committee please contact the school.
Hard to believe but the new school year has begun. There are several changes at our school. Helen Bernard-Ward has been appointed Vice Principal. New additions to our staff include Natialie Larry teaching Mik'maq to the K4,K5 Grades 5,6,7 and 8 and Miss Tobi Ward is our new K5 teacher.Mrs. Mary Ginnish is teaching intense Mik'maq program to Grades 1,2,3 and 4.
Just a reminder that the first day of school at Eel Ground School is on Wednesday September 5th. We hope everyone had a great summer and we are looking forward to having a great school year!
