The Eel Ground Eagles Middle School runners wrapped up their 2014 season in fine fashion on Wednesday evening. Faced with two gruelling laps on a difficult course at French Fort Cove, the Eagles came up with some of their best efforts of the year. Eric Paul had another excellent performance finishing in 2nd place. Eric also came in 2nd place overall for the season amongst Grade 6 boys! Congrats Eric! In the grade 6 girls heat, the Eagles girls turned in some terrific runs. Savannah Simon finished in 4th place, Janessa Francis was 8th and Kelsey Tenass was 9th.
This Friday, the public is invited to visit the Eel Ground First Nation School Haunted House. It will be open to the public on Friday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. We guarentee to scare you! The Eel Ground Eagles Elementary Soccer Team wrapped up their season on a winning note at the year end Jambouree on Thursday, October 17th. Game 1 saw the Eagles lose a heart-breaker losing 1-0 on a last minute goal to NSEE. Rodnet Hanifan had a strong game in goal for the Eagles. In Game 2, the Eagles played their best game of the year.
The Elementary runners were in Blackville on Wednesday, Mariah Ward finished FIRST OVERALL amongst Grade 3 girls. Way to go Mariah! Kaido Simonson had another strong run finishing 5th for Grade 3 boys. Preston Francis also had a nice run, crossing the line in 23rd. Cameron Ward finished 19th for Grade 4 boys, and Kohen Simonson finished 9th for Grade 5 boys. Awesome job by all of our runners this week! Great job Eagles!
The Middle School Cross Country Runners visited the scenic Strawberry Marsh for a track meet. Eric Paul continues his strong season finishing 4th and now sits in 2nd place in the standings for Grade 6 boys.Sage Simon finished 6th amongst Grade 6 girls, while Janessa Francis was 8th. Savannah Simon was 11th and and Kelsey Tenass came home in 13th. Great work boys and girls.
Last Tuesday evening the Eel Ground Eagles Elementary Soccer team travelled to Douglastown to battle Gretna Green. The Eagles lost a close, high scoring affair, dropping an 8-5 decision. Preston Francis had a hat trick and Rodney Hanifan and Cameron Ward had singles for Eel Ground. Rodney Hanifan and Kohen Simonson shared goaltending duties. On October 14th the Eagles wrapped up their regular season dropping a close 2-0 decision to North and South Esk Elementary in Sunny Corner.Piel Ward stood tall in goal with several outstanding saves.
