On Wednesday, October 1st the Cross Country teams were in competition. The Elementary Runners were at Croft while the Middle School Runners were in Nelson. In the Elementary heats, Mariah Ward placed 2nd in her division while Kohen Simonson placed 9th. Middle School action saw Eric Paul place 2nd amongst Grade 6 boys, while Sage Simon, Savannah Simon, Janessa Francis and Kelsey Tenass all placed in the top 11 finishers. Outstanding effort by all the runners this week!

The Eel Ground Eagles were in Blackville on Tuesday for an Elementary Soccer matchup. The Eagles started strong in this contest but had a difficult second half. Blackville scored some highlight reel goals and ultimately came out on top by a 9-3 score. Piel Ward and Preston Francis split the duties in nets for Eel Ground and they both did a great job. Marcus Martin scored two goals for the Eagles with Rodney Hanifan adding the third goal.On Thursday, the Eagles took on Harkins Elementary. In a hard fought, back and forth battle, Harkins came out on top by a final score of 4-1.

Our school soccer team played two games recently and put in a great effort. On Tuesday they travelled to Blackville and lost a tough one. Rodney hanifan scored the lone goal for Eel Ground. Ayden Augustine and Marcus Martin played well in net. Last Thursday they travelled to Croft Elementary and played a very strong Croft squad. They lost 5-0 but put in a great effort. Rodney Hanifan had a strong game in net while Kaitlyn Hamilton Ward, Mariah Ward and Cameron Ward all had a great game defensively. The Eagles play today at Croft as they take on Harkins Elementary.

On Wednesday the Middle School Cross Country Team ventured to Harkins Middle School where they encountered a grueling track. Two new members joined the club this week and both had solid debuts. Taylor Simon finished 2nd amongst the Grade 8 Girls, while Cyrus Jerome placed 3rd for Grade 8 boys. Eric paul once again had a strong showing coming in 3rd place in the Grade 6 boys division. Janessa Francis placed 9th in the very competitive Grade 6 girls division.

There is no school tomorrow, Friday, October 3rd in recognition of Treaty Day. Students will return to class on Monday.

The October Newsletter is now out. Check it out to find out what is happening at Eel Ground First Nation School for the month of October.Congratulations to Nolan Genova for winning the Cineplex Movie certificate for the newsletter entry ballot. We had 55 ballots out of a possible 79 entries. Way to go! Let's see if we can get 79 next month. Ballots for the October draw must be returned to the office by October 7th.
