As part of Aboriginal Peoples Television Network’s (APTN) National Aboriginal Day celebrations, APTN is excited to once again launch its annual Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest, inviting all young people ages 12 to 17 years to design a flag reflecting their perspectives on the richness and diversity of Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples. This is an excellent opportunity for your students to tap into their imaginations to create something original that shows their pride in the culture and heritage of Aboriginal Peoples.
The Artist Kave will be displaying and honouring artwork by the talented students of School District 16 from April 14th to April 21st. Mrs. Charlotte Loggie, District 16 Art Coordinator, was extremely excited and welcomed the opportunity to showcase some of the budding artists of School District 16.The showcase of student artwork will mark the opening of The Artist Kave for the season. The Artist Kave, located at 1734 Water St. Miramichi, is a gallery that focuses on displaying and promoting the works of the Miramichi’s many talented local artists.
The girls JV volleyball team played Harkins Grade 6 team and won three sets to two. The girls continue their impressive season tonight when they play the Harkins Grade 7 team. Good luck Girls!
Eel Ground First Nations School will be closed Monday morning due to a death in the community. The school bus will be picking up kids 12:25 and classes will begin at 12:45.
The world is observing the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and our Grade 5-6 class is presently studying about the great ship. Mr. McKay and his class are reading books,doing worksheet activities, watching video clips and having discussions about the famous ship. The students are very interested in this study.
The girls Junior Varsity Volleyball team will play this Friday. They will travel to Harkins Middle School.Last week the girls team played Dr. Losier and won 3 games to 2. we always welcome volunteers who can help out with transportation and everyone is welcome to come out and cheer our team on.
We have a chance to have four lacrosse teams come to the Fredericton area and put on exhibition games, after the games they will be putting on clinics for the youth to show them how to throw the ball, catch the ball and basically get them interested into the game of lacrosse. Kelvin needs to know who is interested in bringing youth to this event, it will be taking place on May 6th (notification of the arena will be placed at a later date). The grade 7-8 class will be traveling to N-B-C-C Wednesday April 11th. The students will be visiting the animation department at the college and will get a first hand look at how it works and some of the great animation that has been produced by students of the program.
