It is with deep sadness that we have learned the passing of our former Prncipal, Mr. John Hawkes. Mr Hawkes passed away on Friday. He was diagnosed with ALS and lived everyday with passion and a caring nature with everyone he met. He will be resting at Mahre's Funeral Home in Chatham with visiting hours on Monday, April 27, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, and Tuesday,April 28, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 29, at 11:00am at St. Michael's Basilica, Miramichi. As expressions of sympathy donations to the ALS Society of New Brunswick, https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/als-society-of-nova-scotia/ and St. Michael's Renovation Fund would be appreciated.To quote Mr Hawkes"Everyday I begin my day by asking God for a miracle, but I always add that if someone needs that miracle more than I do, I can wait another day. I expect the very best from my family doctor, my mechanic and my garbage collector. I expect the best and they give me the best. Why, then, would I ever expect anything less from myself? As students, make sure you give your best to whatever task you undertake, no matter how big, no matter how small.I have been told that there is nothing that can be done about my ALS. But I am a fighter and I will never give up. I will try to make the best of every challenge I face. That is all each of us can do with the challenges we all face.
