Students at Eel Ground School have been actively signing up sponsors and collecting pledges for the annual Jump Rope for Heart event. Jump Rope for Heart raises the awareness in schools and communities as to the need to stress the importance of physical activity and good nutrition to reduce the effects on the human heart. Over 85 students at the school participated in the program this year. On February 16 students at all grade levels participated in skipping activities in the school gymnasium. Serena Harris, the school's physical education teacher, organized the event at the school. It was a fun day in support of an excellent community activity. Phil Robichaud, the Manager of Revenue Development for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, attended the event at the school. Mr. Robichaud commented on the event. "It was a great day for the students and staff at Eel Ground School. I am really pleased with the students' involvement and the excitement they had for supporting our efforts to help make our society change their lifestyles to have healthier bodies."
