It's the second week of school and the teachers and students are busy.The kindergarten class have been introduced to their activity centers; water, painting, sand, blocks, and kitchen. They will start a unit on apples soon. The grade ones are learning to count forward and backwards and by 5s and 10s. The grade 2 class is starting a unit on migration. The grade 3 and 4 students have completed a cool art project. Grade 5 and 6 students are learning about New Brunswick geography. The grade 7 and 8 students are reading novels. Phew...
At the end of the year, students in Mrs. Ward's grade 1 and 2 class completed a butterfly project in which they raised then released butterflies. Students learned about the butterfly lifecycle through first-hand observation.
On June 6th, 2006, Eel Ground School held its third annual year-end event focused on healthy lifestyles and diabetes awareness. This year's theme was Fear Factor. Students separated into groups and followed a map to several stations located around the community. At each station, students participated in activities related to staying physically active and eating nutritiously. Students from Metepenagiag School also attended the event.Special thanks to Shelley Leighton and her staff at the Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative, school co-ordinator Gail Francis, and all the volunteers.
On Sunday, May 28th, three Eel Ground students traveled to Kings Landing Historical Settlement to present the 'Aknutmaqn' - Mi'kmaq Storytelling Project at the Provincial Heritage Fair Showcase. Pictured above are the Eel Ground students that presented the display along with Hermenegilde Chiasson, the current Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick. Congratulations to all the students who helped created the website.
On Friday, April 28th, Mr. Creamer, Randy, Felicia and Sacha attended the Regional Heritage Fair held at Nelson Rural School. The students showcased the 'Aknutmaqn' - Mi'kmaq Storytelling Project that was created by Eel Ground students from grades 3 to 8. Their display won the 'RBC Foundation Award for the Celebration of Aboriginal Heritage'. The Eel Ground students have been invited to display their project at the Provincial Heritage Fair Showcase on May 28th which will be held at the Kings Landing Historical Settlement.
Students will take the image of the glasses and create a reflection of a second image in each of the lenses. The assignment will require students to use the magic wand tool and also the copy and paste commands.Students can also experiment with the opacity of layers and the filters to improve their images.
