contest!!!!!As part of Aboriginal Peoples Television Network’s (APTN) National Aboriginal Day celebrations, APTN is excited to once again launch its annual Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest, inviting all young people ages 12 to 17 years to design a flag reflecting their perspectives on the richness and diversity of Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples. This is an excellent opportunity for your students to tap into their imaginations to create something original that shows their pride in the culture and heritage of Aboriginal Peoples.

The Eel Ground School Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball team played Monday night. They travelled to Millerton where they won 2 out of 5 games. So far on the season the girls are 5-5. They have 2 games next week.

The Grade 1-2 class of Miss Larry and Mrs. Bernard-Ward are participating in a Fish Friends program. Students in the class are learning how to take care of baby fish for the next month like a big sister or brother. They work as a team in raising the fish and invite you to stop into their class and see their Fish Friends.

softballThe Nelson Softball Association will be hosting a two day softball skills clinic on May 5 and 6 weekend at the Merle Doyle Field in Nelson. The clinic is open to both boys and girls currently enrolled in any District 16 Middle School. The cost is $12 and includes lunch each day and a clinic T-shirt.Deadline for registration is April 6th.To register, please contact Kevin at 622-4144 or Blake at 625-4629.

Eel Ground Atlantic Salmon Fly Fishing and Sportsman Show will be taking place March 30th and March 31st at the Eel Ground Band Hall. This two day show will include Fly Tying Instruction and displays Sportsmans displays and demonstrations including fishing Guides, Fly and Tackle shops,Authors,Fishing Boats and Motors,4-Wheelers and Archery Demonstrations. This event welcomes all levels of skill and interest in the sport that makes the "mighty Miramichi River" world famous. Hosted by Eel Ground School  and Eel Ground  First Nations Community.

popsicles The Eel Ground School Drama Club will be having an ice cream sale tomorrow, Friday March 22. the sale will take place during the noon hour at the band hall.All ice cream treats are $1.00 each. The Drama Club are also selling tickets for an Easter Basket. The basket is valued at over $100.00. Tickets are just $1.00 each or 9 for $5.00. we will be selling them at the school or from any Drama student member.  Just a reminder that there will be Drama practice friday at 2:30pm until 3:30pm in the school gym and also on Tuesday March 27th and Wednesday March 28th.

Congratulations to our girls junior varsity volleyball team. Tuesday after school they traveled to Nelson for their first game of the season. The girls were victorious winning 3 out of 5 games.Coaches Mrs.Harris and Mrs.Francis both were very impressed with the Grade 5 girls who were playing their first competitive games.Their next game will be on MOnday March 26th in Millerton. Good luck girls!

Today our school will be going to James M. Hill Theatre Auditorium to see two plays. the K4 to grade 4 will be going at 8:45 to see one play and the Grades 5-8 will leave at 9:45pm to see a second play to be performed by the TNB Young Players. It will be a great day!

Every Tuesday and Thursday there will be Intramural Newcombe Ball in the gymnasium for Grades 2-4. All games start at 12:25pm.Teams and schedule are now up in the gymnasium please check to see when your team is playing. Today Team 1 will play Team 2. remember have fun and be a great sport.
